Will money buy Japan a permanent seat?

The answer is "mostly likely". Apparently Japan has the support from the US and the French, with the British always follows Americans these days and the Russian shut up with a lot of Japanese money in hand. In the mean time, the Chinese government doesn't want to say anything and Kofi Annan would back anyone who wouldn't mention his son at the UN.

It's become a circus at the UN since last week Kofi Annan's "vision" been released. What's interesting is that no major media in the US ever mentioned the Korean and Chinese objection of Japan trying to beautify its textbook about its dirty past. Why the past is so important? Just like a criminal should never be paroled if one can't recognize the harm of the crime, Japan should never been invited back to the international committee if it couldn't face what they did wrong 60 - 70 years ago. What differentiate Germany from Japan is that the latter never officially and really apologize for what it did in the past. It is not about justice for the past, it is about the danger a criminal nation poses for our future.
