1 in 100 US adults are in Jail!

Now the US leads the world in both percentage and population for the number of inmates. What bothers me more is the fact that "one in nine black man between 20 and 34 are behind bars". I just don't understand why those politicians love to send people to jail for smoking pot, which doesn't kill nearly as many people as smoking anything else.

The real question is what's the percentage and population for people who's been in jail? Soon, there will be one day that we have to allow people with criminal records to run for political office. Wait, we've done that already.
