Should A-Bomb be used to end WWII?
A good WWII memorial site.
My answer is NO. I don't believe the argument to end the war quickly is legitimate at all. You don't kill innocent people for the protection of others. It is an ethical question whether civilians are legitimate targets.
One may argue that during a war, most of the civilians are not really so "innocent" since many are willingly participants and supporters of the war. So if those "unwilling" soldiers can be legitimate targets, so can the people of Horishia and Nagasaki, which were bases for major defense industry. However, would that make everybody a legitimate target or "expensible"? Besides, it also provided Japan to paint itself a victim at each WWII memorial while never directly admitting they started the war in the first place. This is much more dangerous than draging the war a few weeks longer (if that's true).
